Some Affordable Christmas Ideas

Every year as we get close to Christmas I get several phone calls from wives, fishing partners, and sons or daughters of fishermen asking what is a good idea or a good fishing present for the fisherman who has two boat loads of tackle. The first thing that comes to mind is wow that is a great question; what can you buy the fisherman who seemingly has it all already.

So here goes my best shot at this question: first of all Lowrance has come out with a Generation II HDS depth finder GPS, it is newly announced this past week so I know they have not been readily available for anyone. Yes, it's a costly present, but there are different models available at different prices, for some but it is new and it brings features to the electronic fishing geek he has never seen. Giving the fisherman the ability with available memory to record the bottom structure and save it to your GPS memory, allowing you to create life like underwater images of the lake of your favorite fishing spots.

Next if your avid fisherman is one that complains his hands hurt after a day of fishing, he may be fishing with some old reels that are not nearly as light as today's technology and a nice new light-weight reel like the new Lew's Tournament Pro is reasonable priced, has the speed needed for most of today's baits and only weighs 6.7 oz. This in my opinion for the money could be the best reel on the market for the price.

Sometimes your favorite person just needs some tuning of his fishing skills and buying a gift certificate from a guide for a day of fishing on the water can give him that day he needs to become just a little better fisherman. I sell Christmas gift certificates every year and I can tell you that I have yet to have a fisherman use it that didn't think it was a great present from their loved one. In fact I don't know of any recipients that didn't come back a second time to get even more instruction. A good guide is also a good teacher and your avid fisherman should learn a lot!
