SPRO Frog Tournament on the Horizon

With the SPRO frog only tournament just days away I thought I would give you all some insight into what I am seeing for a frog bite. Let me point out that the last frog only tournament in early September for another manufacturer was a tough bite. Assuming the lake has changed and turned on is not the case so participants are going to have to be real selective as the areas of the lake they fish; locate bites and hang in there with them for longer periods of time. I believe persistence will pay off but you must stay focused and keep throwing and working that frog in active areas and don't give up on active areas.

I also believe that you should rig a few different colors and different frog types for example; I would have a SPRO popper frog rigged one in a light color and one in a dark, I would also rig a traditional SPRO Bronze Eye frog again with a dark and a light color rigged on different set ups. The new SPRO Bronzeye Shad is frog much better off the mats in my mind than the traditional look as it walks very easy so again I would rig one with a light bottom and one with a dark color bottom. The idea of having several rods rigged with different colors and presentations will make changing very easy and allow you to reach quick conclusions when you find some active areas.

I also believe that inside grass lines might be the best frog bite, whenever I see a location that the grass line has open water next to a bank I try to get my boat into that area. As the grass erodes away from the bank it creates grass lines off the bank and these are good areas for fish to locate for several reasons. The bank offers some shade being a big reason and the shady open water next to a bank always holds fish, and the inside grass line seems to be easy access for the bass to hide when they need to.

The SPRO frog tournament is coming on October 8, 2016 so don't delay get your application in now as there is a cut-off date where they will not accept entries of October 4, 2016. This is the best tournament of the year!
