August 2016 Fishing Report:

The fishing here in Mosquito Lagoon area has been good with double digit days of nice trout and redfish coming boat side. The Snook have been on fire! I have been targeting the Snook & Trout early in the morning. With the right tides & bait, the Snook bite has been the best it's been in years. I like to use plugs and twitch baits early targeting the schools of bait on the shallow grass then moving to a soft plastic or live bait later in the day on the deeper edges of mosquito lagoon. The redfish bite has been good all day. They are starting to school up & showing you those famous tail waves. They have been eating soft plastics and Aqua Dream spoons! If live bait is more your style then pinfish, pigfish, cut bait and mullet are all a good choice of bait. We still have good numbers of tarpon through out New Smyrna and Mosquito lagoon area from juveniles to hundred and fifty pound class. I like to target the tarpon early morning or late evening throwing upgraded plugs and live bait from pinfish to live finger mullet. Make sure you upgrade your terminal tackle because no one wants to show up to a gun fight holding a pocket knife. Good luck out there. The fishing has been great this month

Good luck and be safeCapt Patrick Roodhttp://www.spotntailcharters.com/(386)566-1394
