The awesome Topwater bite continued today. I arrived at about 9:00 AM and worked around until I got into the bass. I did not take too long. Twenty three was how many were placed in the boat. On those 21 were caught on Clear Rattling Chug Bugs. One of the others came on a Tiki Stick. The other one came on a Bomber Long A. Both the odd bites were caught after they missed the top water and the other two lures were thrown back as follow up baits. I completed my fishing at 1:00 PM. Four hours twenty three real nice bass. All in the middle of the day. All with a blue sky and lots of sun. A breeze moved around a little. Enough to make the day very enjoyable and comfortable.

This is an amazing topwate bite. It starts when the sun comes up and ends when the sun comes down. If an angler is not getting bit it is because he is working the lure incorrectly (a way the bass does not want it) or the angler is just simply not in an area with fish.

When you catch one - work the area. The bass are close. Not stacked up like cord wood but close. Move a little and you will find another nice patch of bass.

Here are some real critical parts of the pattern. Use a Rattling Chug Bug. Maybe another top water will work, but why mess with what works? The bass are close to stumps. I did not say on the stumps - I said "close" to stumps. If the lure is worked from a distance away from a stump and then about three feet from the stump and then continued past the stump you have the method that worked best for me. If a bass misses, or, you miss the bass, just let the lure lay and then continue working. MOST of the time you will get the bass to bite again.

Some of the bass that miss are smaller. If you want to find out throw back a Bomber Long A or a Tiki Stick. The bass will strike these lures (MOST of the time) and you will see what missed the Chug Bug. ALL these top water bites have been water movers and heart stoppers. Even the smaller bass. Not that I had that many small fish bite. Only caught two shorter than 16 inches.

All my bites came on a Clear colored Rattling Chug Bug. That was what was tied on when I started and I found no reason to change. I am sure other colors work too. Gold chrome with black back and orange belly is one of the best. Any chrome silver works.

Back to the pattern - the angler should be able to see the bottom with Polarized glasses. This is two and a half feet of water or less. Hey, the water is 84 degree and the bass are not supposed to be there. Ricky Clunn once told me that "Bass are where you find them." I found them here!

This bass action is outstanding, fantastic, awesome. I would like to share it with you. Get a hold of me and YOU will be next! Hugh@HughCrumpler.Com 321-722-3134
