Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Ben Angelo, Zach, Josh, Bobby, Jordan and Matt from Pennsylvania were down in Fort Lauderdale for a bachelor party for Zach and decided to charter the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. The seas were calm today – 1 to 2 ft. – with partly cloudy skies.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a blue and white sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits, we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. Our first bite was a Kingfish weighing 10 lbs. The anglers kept taking turns reeling in a total of seven Kingfish and nine Bonitos.

While trolling, we got a real nice rigger bite – Sailfish. The Sailfish started jumping out of the water as the sun beamed down on his bright neon colors – a beautiful sight. Zach was our angler and sat in the fighting chair to do battle. After a twenty-five minute battle, the Sailfish was brought to the side of the boat for picture taking, and was released.

We decided to do some wreck fishing and headed over to a wreck in 275 ft. of water. We put down a bait and Ben caught a 40 lb. Amberjack. We reset and got hooked up with an Almaco Jack – a great eating fish.

It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, while watching the plasma TV.
