Lake Erie, Ohio - Freshwater Fishing Report
Western Basin

If your not fishing for Walleye in the Western Basin just out in front of Turtle Creek and Green Cove, you are missung the best fishing of the year. I took my limit in about two hours. I hooked seven fish before I put my limit in the cooler. I startede out using a perch colored chicada or blade bait. I caught one fish and had a couple of others on. I heard someone on the radio say they were using a blue jig and really killing them. I switched over to a blue sided chicada with red eyes. I hooked one on the first

jig. I ended up hooking about 7 more before I put my limit of 4 in the cooler. I saw someone netting a fish about eny time I looked around. The fish run about 3 to 4 pounds. I heard of some q10 pounders being taken out in deeped water, but I don't like to catch females. I want them to spawn for the next few years and besides they are not as good eating as the smaller males.
