The best time of the year to fish is when the ice is just melted off, about the end of April first of May. Cultus Lake Resort has thier annual \"FISH FOR THE BIG MAC\'S\" fishing derby May 19 and 20. 5 prizes: 1st place $2000, 2nd prize $1000, 3rd prize $500, 4th prize 3 night stay at Cultus Lake Resort and 5th prize rib dinner for 4 at Cultus Lake Resort.
