Water temperatures are finally dropping a little now in November to the mid 70 levels after a warm autumn so far in East Central Florida, water levels however are a different story with very high water still in Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River. Plenty of baitfish still around, schools of mullet continue to move down the waterway, slowly working their way south not in a hurry with the warm water temps, once our first chilly spell comes they will speed up their journey to the south Florida wintering grounds. Redfish hunting on a high water lagoon includes targeting shorelines of the uncountable mangrove islands as Reds will gravitate to the shallow water near these edges, also grass flats that are normally too shallow to float a boat are now a good depth of 1 to 2 feet, flats usually fished during normal water levels are currently much too deep right now, flooded conditions make for a challenging pattern on shallow water Reds, but still fun and still catching some fish. Indian River backcountry fishing has been good with plenty of Seatrout and Mangrove Snapper, fun inshore game fish Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish make for great rod bending, regular client Charlie from Pennsylvania arranged a 2 day charter recently, first day on the flats hunting Redfish, second day variety backcountry fishing, both mornings fun and successful, variety trips always have some surprise fish come aboard, this time was a 29" Snook caught by Tom on a live shrimp......................

................ Our flats trip had 5 Redfish up to 26" plus a good Seatrout bonus fish, Charlie with a good spot tail.....................

Regular long time local client Donovan did a solo Redfish trip in November, started catching fish at the first spot, catching 5 Reds to 25", plus a good Trout caught on a live finger mullet...................

Kyle here visiting from Texas, found my website and booked a solo flats trip, a much fun morning with 4 Redfish a couple caught sight fishing a mini flat by a small island with cruising fish......................

Local resident Trevor wanted to treat his girlfriend to a fishing trip for her birthday, so we went Redfish hunting on the flats, started off with a bang, with bites first thing, turned slow in the second half, but we still had a great time, 4 Redfish were caught, birthday girl Amy was trilled with a Red on her first cast......................

Dan and family from Tennessee came with me on a mixed bag variety backcountry trip, catching lots of fun fish , many different species as usual , including good size hard fighting Jack Crevalle from a surface striking school chasing mullet, sight casting in to the white water strikes for instant hook ups........................
