Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Naehyung Ryu and friends from Philadelphia chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some big game deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Winds were out of the west northwest at 7 mph, seas running 3-4 ft, sun playing peak-a-boo - a very pleasant weather.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft of water at the sea buoy in Ft. Lauderdale, 1.8 miles off shore. We started off trolling with two plainers, a #6 & a #8, one plainer with a 3 1/2 blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a blue and white sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two Bonito strips and two Ballyhoos strips. As I trolled the reefs, the anglers caught some Kingfish with some Shorts mixed in. At this time Mr. Ryu made a request for Grouper and Snappers; however, I advised him that the Grouper season was closed so we concentrated on Snapper fishing. With 36 artificial wrecks here in Fort Lauderdale, there is a wide range of fishing wrecks to choose from with depths ranging from 80 ft of water out to 420 ft. The first wreck we fished from the anglers caught undersized Snappers and Groupers which were released. We continued going to other wrecks winding up with Yellow Eye Snappers, Silk and Vermilion Snappers and a nice surprise, an African Pompano.

With plenty of good edible fish to take home, the anglers retired into the a/c salon for a relaxing ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
