Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Dirk Schonenberg, a regular customer for the past 7 years, charters the Topshofishing team when he is here in Fort Lauderdale during the International Fort Lauderdale Boat Show exhibiting his beautiful mega yachts. This year was no exception. Mr. Schonenberg, along with his friend, E. C. Huisman, owner of Eeco Marine-Survey, went out fishing with us twice this week to do some deep sea big game sport fishing.

On our way out, we stopped to get a dozen live Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait. From there, fifteen minutes later lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down and three Ballyhoo surface baits with one Bonito strip. While trolling, the anglers took turns bringing in their catches of Kingfish and Bonitos.

Dirk was on the plainer rod bringing in his Kingfish as the black shadow appeared on the right short. It was E.C.'s turn now. Hooked up!!! the Sailfish came out of the water and the fun began!!! The Sailfish immediately headed towards the east, gray-hounding away from the boat – this was E.C.'s first Sailfish. Dave, our mate, cleared the other lines while both anglers were hooked up. Dirk landed his Kingfish while E.C. was fighting his Sailfish. After a twenty-minute battle, Dave grabbed a hold of the leader, pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released.

On our second fishing trip this week, Dirk was by himself. Again, we stopped to get Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait. As we live baited, Dirk caught five nice Kingfish between 12 and 20 lbs. From there we moved out to deeper waters and the black shadow appeared. Dirk hopped into the fighting chair to do battle with his Sailfish. After fifteen minutes, the Sailfish was brought to the side of the boat for picture taking and was released. This was Dirk's fifth Sailfish.

With a smile on my friend's face, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. The angler retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock.
