Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Two retirees from Phoenix, Dale Flewelling and friend since Grammar school, Ray, chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We had winds out of the east at 5 mph, seas running 1-2 ft., another typical gorgeous day in sunny Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Dale, being a seasoned angler, has chartered many fishing trips in the Pacific Ocean – this would be his first in Fort Lauderdale; whereas Ray has just started to get into fishing by purchasing a bass boat and tackle and was excited about this fishing charter.

We left the dock and fifteen minutes later fishing lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We put two plainers down, both with sea witches and double hook Bonito strips. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. Fred was our first angler as he reeled in a Kingfish followed by Dale with another Kingfish. Thereafter, they each took turns reeling in their fish. After catching 9 Kingfish and 2 Bonitos, I decided to make a drop on one of our 34 artificial wrecks in Fort Lauderdale, FL located in 220 ft. of water. Knowing that the current was too fast, I still wanted to try to catch a Grouper on the wreck so we put a live bait on the bottom, and Ray caught a Red Snapper.

After a successful fishing adventure, the two gentlemen retired to the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
