Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Mary Carol Golemme and her husband, Joe, along with daughter, Sue and fiancé, Rich, from CA chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The family was celebrating a belated Father's Day and Sue's and Rich's upcoming wedding.

Winds were out of the east at 12 mph with sun-showers throughout the trip. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale, the Happy Day Today was in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale. If you venture off another ¼ mile, due to our extreme drop off, you would find yourself in 500 ft. of water.

We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. I trolled east and west over the reefs ranging from 80 ft. out to 190 ft. of water catching 10 Bonitos, one Barracuda, a 3 ft. Remora and one Mahi Mahi, which will be served for dinner tonight. Joe wanted to try some Bonitos for sushi – I advised him that the meat of a Bonito is very bitter and not good for sushi – Joe, how was it???

It was time to retire into the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.

Congratulations to Sue and Rich on your wedding!!!!
