Hi Guys,

It's only been 2 days since my last report but I had to write about the swordfish trip last night. We went out as usual on our Friday Night Open Boat Swordfish trip at 6PM. Got out to fishing grounds about 7 o'clock. Just as we were putting the float buoy on our second bait, the bait gets ripped out of the hands of the mate and comes tight to the rod. Fish on! This fish completely dumps our 80W w/ 100 lb test on it. The captain started chasing the fish when we were about ½ spool so we didn't get to the very end of the spool. We chased the fish down for over an hour and a half. Got him just close enough to see the light stick and the fish takes another huge run almost spooling us again. A few minutes after that we pulled the hooks. It was a heartbreaker. We put the baits out again but it was an early bite, so no more action for us that evening.

I also never wrote about last weeks Friday Night Swordfish Trip. Action was really hot that night. We were 2 swordfish for 14 bites that night. They kept just harassing the baits and not eating them. The 2 we caught were small, 40-50 pounders just a few inches over legal size. So in the midst of all these missed bites and 2 caught fish, we hooked up on, fought and released a 450 lb mako shark. Huge fish, great fight, awesome shark. It glowed iridescent purple when it got close to the boat. Anyway, thanks for reading my fish story. See ya all out on the water.
