Salmon Fishing
Salmon Fishing is really living up to all that was forecasted for 2009 and we are seeing some great fishing early on. The salmon have been averaging a good size and we are seeing lots of fish over 15 lbs with quite a few in the 15-25 lb range and the odd one over 30. Chinook(Kings) are being caught in a few places in Barclay Sound including Great Bear and Meares Bluff as well as South Bank, the Lighthouse Bank, Big Bank and Portland Point. We are limiting out on most trips and are seeing lots of smiles. The salmon are being caught on coyote spoons (usually 3 inch spoons work better this time of year in close). Most of the fish being caught off shore close to the bottom which means you are getting some halibut as well. We are having a great early season, so come out and enjoy some great salmon fishing!
Thanks for all who read my reports,
