Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/19/08
Water Temperature 67 degrees
The past week on Guntersville was excellent; with only one real high-pressure day the bass moved and feed most of the week. We had catches up to 25 fish a day and managed to put a good 6 plus pound bass or bigger in the boat most of the days.
You had to have a slow presentation to get the bite except for Friday where they hit most bait regardless of speed. Most of the week we fished Mister Twister lizards and comidas, and the other days we fished Punisher Spinner Baits and small crank baits. The bite was strong and most days we found good solid Guntersville bass.
I fished mainly mid to upper-river, all week looking for backwater beds in 1 to 3 feet of water. There has been some late week move to the ledges and I expect this next week to find most of the fish a little deeper as the spawn turns to post spawn.
Fishing is excellent and with a little patience and some luck we should start seeing a top water bite very soon. The baitfish is starting to show up, and it should also mean the start of the really good spinner bait bite.
Come fish the grass with me I have opens all through the month of May!
