Catch Of The Month Fishing Report

[Lake Ontario, NY] Although conditions have been tough, good numbers of of brown trout and salmon are being found in 45 to 80 feet of water. This week, my parties landed a total of 52 browns,2 steelhead and two kings over the course of 9 charters. Some great days, some tough days, but No Kings to be found for us???? Again I hear great things out of Canada and the west end, so we can only hope they will show. Read more

Washington, D.C. – June 10, 2008 – Guided recreational anglers in Southeast Alaska won a reprieve here today from the one halibut daily bag limit imposed June 1 by the National Marine Fisheries Service. Judge Rosemary Collyer granted a temporary restraining order, or TRO, against the rule at the request of eleven Southeast charter operators who filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Rick Grassett’s Fishing Report for 8/11 through 8/16/2008 by Rick Grassett (8/28/2008) - Anglers fishing with me on the Snook Fin-Addict, out of CB’s Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, had good action with snook, tarpon and trout during the week of August 11. The best action continues to be on deep grass flats with a variety of species including trout, bluefish and mangrove snapper. We also had action fishing lighted docks for snook before dawn and large tarpon around bridges and on the flats after daylight.

Part of the reason is simply less people fishing. The tournaments are over and August has typically been slower than June and July for tourism anyway.
