Maine Striper Fishing Report: Super Fly Charters; Sunday, July 5, 2009 by
George Harris (7/07/2009)
[St. George River,ME] Summer has arrived in the midcoast and we should see a huge improvement in our Striper fishery. Bright skies and warm breezes will make our outings all that much more enjoyable. The early morning tides over the next few days should prove to be very good. Low light coupled with low water are two of the pieces of the puzzle that have been bringing it all together lately.

Spring Smallmouth Bass by
Doug LePage (5/04/2008)
[Lewiston,ME] Pre Spawn Smallies can be some of the best fishing of the entire year, providing both big fish and big numbers of fish. Three to four pound smallmouth all day long is a great way to cure that case of spring fever.

November Fishing by
Don Kleiner (11/10/2007)
[,ME] Yesterday I guided a couple of fisherman from Texas. I decided to try Megunticook because of the recent stockings of rainbow trout and the fact that it would be less affected by the recent rains and high water. We started around 11:30 and launched at Bog Brook with no problem plenty of water for the 20’ Lund. We fished in the west end of the lake and caught 6 Rainbows the largest about 14” and 8 Bass all largemouth up to about three pounds (a surprise to me) in three hours.
Perfect Fall Trips by
Don Kleiner (9/24/2007)
[St. George River,ME] This morning I had a striper fishing trip on the lower river after a couple of trips with no fish last week my expectations were very low. I was very pleasantly surprised there were stripers on the surface during most of the tide.
Cool Mornings and Excellent Striper Fishing by
Don Kleiner (9/18/2007)
[St. George River,ME] The last two mornings on the salt water were nothing less than chilly. This morning the fog was rising from the water surface just like Arctic Sea Smoke does in the winter on a really cold day. Of course today’s temperature was in the upper thirty’s and not the single numbers that produce sea smoke. Both days have been crystal clear with a cobalt blue sky and little wind. The striper fishing was slower yesterday than it was this morning but both days were very good.
The Fall Striper Run is On! by
Don Kleiner (9/11/2007)
[St. George River,ME] I had forgotten what a great experience the fall run of fish can be. This morning in the drizzle with the leaves definitely starting to turn in the background and we had a steady stream of fish in the expected places.
First Week in August Report by
Don Kleiner (8/03/2007)
[St. George River,ME] Most of my mornings start with a striper fishing trip on the St. George River. The fishing is very good with fish holding on structure in the usual places. Not a wild scene with fish chasing bait on the surface but the kind of fishing a guide has to work at steadily to produce results for clients.
Striper Fishing Weekend by
Don Kleiner (7/18/2007)
[St. George River,ME] This past weekend I had a series of striper fishing trips on the Saint George. All of were successful in catching fish and the good news is that the fish are starting to head into the shallows where they are the most fun to catch. Early Saturday morning was the most successful trip of the weekend with many fish brought to the boat including several very nice fish and some beautiful Maine summer weather.

An amazing sight by
Don Kleiner (6/13/2007)
[St. George River,ME] Yesterday while waiting at the Thomaston public landing for my afternoon striper fishing party I saw something that I had only seen once before. An osprey dove and successfully caught a herring. While he was flying off with his prize an eagle appeared and began to harass the osprey.

John Ford (10/09/2006)
[Casco Bay,ME] finished up season ending striper charters this past weekend. Water is cold and fish are on the move south. I want to thank all who made the season a great success. Striper fishing was pretty steady June through the end of Sept., although we did not see the numbers of big fish we usually do that seemed the story up and down throughout New England.
Penobscot River Maine Fly Fishing by
Kevin Mckay (10/09/2006)
[Penobscot River,ME] As I stood in the shower,I thought of the money I would miss out on if I didn't work on Columbus day, double time and a half. I also thought of time I would miss out on with my boys,if I didn't take this free day off. I took the day off minutes before I was going to leave.
