I have been putting these reports out throughout the season since 1995. I went back and checked, and this is the first time
I ever posted one in February. That will give you an idea of how good the codfishing is.
Fluke Fishing Montauk by

Last weekend we had great fluke fishing, and for big fish. Then on Monday we had 20-25 southwest, and that knocked put the fish off for a couple of days, and by the weekend things were great again.
Striped Bass Fishing Improved Greatly by

Things are starting to look up. Striped bass fishing has improved greatly, with a real nice class of fish here. Live baiting with porgies is working pretty well, with the biggest impediment catching the bait. Trolling is also producing good sized fish.

It’s hard to give a report this week, because in almost every case the state of the fishing depends on who I speak to. One guy does great, and the next does lousy.
Marine Basin Shark Tournament by

The second shark tournament of the year is history. The Marine Basin tournament had a little over a hundred boats in it, about the same as last year, which is pretty surprising considering the weather.
