The crew intended to run the clients out to one of our fishing hot-spots about 55 miles out from the Seward Harbor. Once we turned the corner at Cape Resurrection we entered fog so dense that visibility was about 5 feet all day. Even with Radar the Fog slowed us down to the point that a closer fishing area had to be picked.
We pulled into the "ICE BOX" which is a very nice Silver Salmon spot sporadically during the season. We began fishing Silvers and whacked a limit in about an hour. Special thanks goes to Deckhand Brian Stegall as Captain James spent about 30 minutes cutting P-line out of the props! During this time Brian netted, un-hooked, re-baited, marked, gilled and got about 15 of those Silvers. Great Job Brian!
Once we were done with Silvers we decided to stay in the same area due to the dense fog. We changed to heavier gear and drifted up a limit of Ling-Cod and a few nice Halibut with the largest being 75 lbs.
The Fishing is great as long as the weather holds up. The Silvers have been hot and cold due to just where they are in the run at the time.
