Good morning, this is Capt. Troy Creasy with today's fishing report.
Well the deep freeze we experienced earlier this week made for some good ice making conditions.
Black Lake, Sandy Pond and the smaller lakes now have good ice. Perch and Pike are biting in 6 to 12 feet of water with small minnows and jigs working best.
Please use extra caution when fishing early ice. Check the thickness as you work your way out.
With the water running at 375 cfs on the salmon river, conditions are near perfect. Look for some good steelhead fishing over the next few weeks, pressure is light and there are fresh fish scattered throughout the river. Pink and blue egg sac are working the best.
The Oswego River is still running high, but it is at a very fishable level. Concentrate your efforts at the dam or lock 7. Chartreuse and pink eggs sacs are doing the job.
