Thursday Feb 22 Fishing with Mark and Heidi, we had two fish on the gear but didn't keep either one. Although the tide was ebbing strongly all day, it was nice and sunny and overall a great day

Dave from Nice Fish was out two days ago in the deep 'ditch' in front of Sooke Harbour entrance and found good 8 and 10lb Winter Springs using Mint Tulip hootchies.

Sat. March 10 Fishing with Blair and Charlene from Sask. trolling hootchies at 125ft on the downrigger in the deep water off the Sooke Harbour Mouth. Many of the local Charter boats were out getting into the winter Spring Salmon action, we found 3 Springs 5, 9, and 10lbs. The favoured hootchy was green and yellow with a silver spinner infront. Lots of rain and calm water on this trip.

Reports are starting to trickle in about halibut being caught locally. A couple have been picked up as far as Sombrio Beach. I haven't heard of anymore closer to Sooke, but more and more boats are gearing up and heading out to the local spots. We'll hear something soon.

The weather continues to be a challenge. Check weather reports carefully before heading out as strong winds have been coming up suddenly.

Good Fishing, Ron
