Port Alberni Inlet and Barkley Sound
Summer fishing on the West Coast of Vancouver Island and the areas of Barkley Sound should be very good. Only in 1982 and the summer of 91 have returns to rivers south of Barkley Sound been so high. Many of the migratory salmon swimming the beach and offshore waters of the Island come into Barkley Sound to rest and feed on the rich resources of bait fish. The area is expecting returns to other areas of up to two million Coho and 800,000 Chinook plus throwing 14 to 17 million Pinks and 10 to 12 million sockeye into the fold should make some very remarkable sport fishing. We will be fishing the Areas of Barkley Sound daily from June until mid September. Of course the beginning of August sees the return of many local Chinook and Coho which will really add to the August and September totals.
