Woody Gore

27 Degrees in Plant City January 22, 2009

I thought it was cold yesterday, but this morning when I left home for the boat ramp it was really bad. Launched the boat in Clearwater and headed out with live shrimp we purchased from The Complete Angler Tackle and Bait Shop on Ft. Harrison. This is a super nice tackle store and they have everything from everyday tackle to the high-end stuff and live and frozen baits.

Left the ramp about 8 AM and headed out looking for trout. We found plenty of fish but just couldn't get them to eat. I threw everything at them from live shrimp and pinfish to artificial lures and could not get a bite. I suspect the combination of high pressure and cold water had them shut down. We tried live bait on the bottom and under popping corks. We drifted grass flats throwing an assortment of lures in various colors and styles, but still no takers. I guess that's why it's called fishing. Hopefully, tomorrow will be different.
