We have been fishing halibut and salmon fairly close to Ucluelet over the past few days. The Lighthouse Bank and the Red Can and Southbank have all been very good. Halibut have been good size averaging 40 pounds. Our biggest this week is 73. The halibut fishing has still been best using spreader bar and for bait using salmon bellies. The Chinook have been in the high twenties and mid thirties while the Coho which are getting bigger have been averaging 11 to 15 pounds. Hootchies have been good out a Southbank for salmon. Colors which are darker have been good, Guide Al has been using dark greens and even a black close to a oilslick. The fishing should continue well into October.
