Carp Dying in Southeast Michigan: Part 1 of 3 Carp that couldn't find the right habitat to spawn in. These temporary ponds will dry up within days after I filmed this. Animals are losing wetland habitats they need to survive, and these videos allow you to see the effects. These fish search for shallow marsh areas every May to spawn. In May 2007, a large number of carp, from Lake St. Clair, jumped out of a river and landed in a field containing temporary ponds. Filmed at a Clinton River watershed north of Detroit.
