Salmon fishing the hog Farm Monterey for big Chinook tyee Fish for big hog salmon at Monterey famous Hog Farm bite off Point Pinos. Got into them right away...with first one on a clear FBR™ at 90 feet depth on downrigger. Shortly the second salmon came on a red FBR at 90 feet on the wire. Had more take downs but nobody home. Weather was turning bad and headed back before it got to rough. The Hog Farm is the 300 foot line around Point Pinos and is referred to that as that where a lot of big hog salmon or caught real early in the season. This is a beautiful Coastline area near Monterey and Camel and not far from the ramp. Monterey Salmon survey Trolling downriggers FBR tips tricks This is the final results of a couple of days of filming underwater salmon. There was approximately 3 hours plus of film (for each camera) where we were actually trolling. This project started a couple months back when I got the word that the Sacramento salmon return was low and folks are thinking that there is no food or salmon out there. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get some film underwater off our favorite fishing area so as Monterey so that folks who make decisions based on best salmon guesses would have more info to work with. I have watched this film very closely and the results in my opinion there is a lot of fish out there and tons of krill. We was shocked to see so much food in this early. These fish were running deep and generally in the area of the krill masses. I wanted to get the salmon to come up and fall into camera view range just so we could see them on the camera. To get a clear picture of the fish, we ran with very short 2 foot leaders to get the fish as close to the camera as possible. If you run the lure back father you get much more attacking of the lure and if you run FBR™ close the salmon lurk more as they are suspicious that something is wrong and turn away before striking. I brought out all of my tricks on this by designing a special FBR™ rig with dual mini lite stick and then running yarn for both a visual effect and have something for their teeth to grab. (No hook or sleeve were using during the filming) The FBR™was rigged with 4 pieces of yarn (two 14 inch pieces where main line was tied in the center and when double over forms four 7 inch pieces. The yarn twirls and wraps nicely as it rotates around the FBR™ and with the lights flashing with rotation gives off a impressive appearance. The second day I also bought some can tuna and we put a little tuna in the FBR™ head and cut off the anchovy nose a little to allow room for the tuna. We soak the FBR™ rig in the tuna juice just before lowering it on the downrigger. Jose really did a good job in getting us on scene and really did a good job in helping make this film. So folks now you have some of my secrets on rigging FBR™. This will give us a better view of the overall food supply and salmon. Big Sluggo Chinook Salmon Busted at San Francisco Sluggo salmon busted near Duzbury bouy. Located a few miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. We launched out of Sausilito in Richardson Bay, an offshoot of San Francisco Bay. Easy turns both ways around Bonita Point, the dangerous section of the trip. All fish caught on FBR™ (Franko Bullet Rotator™) at 30 feet depth on downrigger. It was a great trip with Craig Wood and Bill Gygax provide good companionship and a successful day. My rod was the hot stick but I stay behind the camera except for some small ones....LOL Three salmon, 2 kept and released one. Ashley Tisdale-Big Fish Story In Description MAALAEA -- The Piper out of Maalaea Harbor weighed a 482.0-pound blue marlin for Mike Tisdale. He was fishing with Capt. Jeff Kahl, his son, Marlin, and Co-capt. Merritt Matheson. Jeff was working the 100-fathom "Spaghetti Bowl" ledge off KuiKui Point on the north corner of Kaho'olawe when they raised their fish. Marlin was on the bridge and saw the marlin's bill pop out of the water with its mouth wide open after the lure. He shouted out, "Marlin!" At first, Jeff didn't believe him, as he heard the long rigger line snap from the outrigger rubber band. He turned around and saw the "boil" on the surface where the lure had been. Merritt had just finished the "FaFa" and put the rod back in the chair rod holder. He had the line in his hand as he set the drag on the reel and felt the rubber band break. He pushed up the drag lever to the "strike" button and waited a split second before the 80-class reel started to sing. The marlin started jumping straight down the wake, and then made a slow turn around up the starboard side. As it headed toward the boat, Jeff began to reverse at the fish, "cutting it off at the pass." As they neared each other, the marlin headed straight down. Marlin turned the chair to the port side where the line was going. Jeff followed the line as he reversed the boat to the spot where the fish had disappeared, leaving a "hole" in the water. Mike cranked the big belly out of the line until it came tight. The marlin was straight down for about five minutes before it resurfaced. Jeff was right after it as Mike kept the line tight. The fish made a few more jumps and then sounded, staying down the remainder of the fight. Merritt had Mike in the harness as Mike got into a slow tug-of-war with his fish. About 20 minutes later, they saw double line. Merritt brought the marlin up on the starboard side. Jeff stuck a tag into the fish and called it 350 pounds. Merritt carefully worked the hooks out of the marlin. They had gotten wrapped around the bill, only allowing it to open its mouth a couple of inches. The marlin rolled onto its side. They tried to right the fish, but it wouldn't turn straight up. They swam it for about ten minutes without reviving it. Instead of leaving it for the sharks, they brought it into the boat. Mike is the father of actress/singer-songwriter Ashley Tisdale. Ashley is one of the stars of "High School Musical" and the Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody." She has a new movie on the ABC Family Channel called "Picture This." Ashley is the spokesgirl for Degree deodorant and Red clothing by Marc Echo. Her debut album is titled "Headstrong."
