Czech Nymphing on the Truckee River Guided Tours with Steve Korbay. Czech Nymphing is a highly effective technique for targeting fish in moderate to fast water. Using a special leader and three weighted flies, fish can be taken at very close range usually no more than a rods length away. Elevation, 8,200 ft.My friend since Jr. college days,Jerry Pulley, and I hike to go fishing for trout!The day was a Thursday, there were no boats, or people around that we could see. My Gentle Grandpa Bill Started Tom Sawyer Camps In 1926 With a love for kids and daring, outdoor adventures in mind, my Grandpa Bill founded Tom Sawyer Camps in 1926 in Laguna Beach California and my dad, Kim, later administrated it. Together they also started College Camp. Why should city kids grow up spoiled, soft, whiny, and wimpy with no character when they can experience training to become otherwise out in the beautiful wilderness of God's creation? Yearly, we enjoyed camping under the stars on the "River Trips" -- on rafts floating south to the Mexican boarder, on the "Desert Trips" -- camping and driving right into Mexico to make friends with the indigenous ..and on the "California Caravan" trip -- hiking and fishing back deep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with mules packed up high. My mom (Betty) started Pre-camp with the help of several great ladies. Some of the kids and counselors are still in touch with my parents today. I remember my aunt Barbara helping along with my uncle Dave Beck, Craig Mayer, Randy and Pam Smith and a whole host of excellent counselors that all did their parts to make it a success. Today Mike and Sally Horner lead this camp an excellent way! If you have kids in California check it out. Since 1944 the camp has been located in the Arroyo Seco (Devil's Gate Dam and Hahamongna Watershed Park) area. It still functions as a ten week summer day camp with horse back riding. Courtright Reservior, Courtright Village, 10/10/2008 My friend, Jerry Pulley, and I, are here at our basecamp, Lot 85, at Courtright Village. We woke up to a cool 25 degrees at 7:30 am, so you can imagine how cool the night was. We had a nice campfire, and fresh hot coffee to knock the chill off.
