High Water Steelheading My good friend Rob Vodola went fishing on the Kalum River on October 25. The water was extremely high but that did not stop us from going fishing. The water looked good. I know this river well as I have fished it for over 30 years. I knew where the fish would be holding...of course...we need to have a good run of fish for my theory to be true. WE HAVE a good run. Noel's BIGGEST Steelhead in years! Rob Vodola and I went fishing on the Kalum River for about half a day on November 12, 2008. We hooked a bunch of Steelhead and even the odd late, non-targeted, Coho. I landed a HUGE Steelhead. It is really hard to tell from the video clip but this was a BIG fish. My biggest in years! I was going to do the tape measure thing but I thought it would take too long and I wanted to "throw him back" quickly. Therefore folks, you are just going to have to take my word for it, I think the fish would have weighed 30-pounds plus. Fly fishing for Skeena River Coho (Silver) Salmon Rick is a fishing guide on the Skeena River near Terrace BC. His clients stopped fishing for lunch and he took the opportunity to make a few casts...and POW this nice Coho took his fly. He hooked it in the main flow of the river, the fish fought its way down stream and through a shallow tail-out and ended up in a back eddy where Rick landed it.
