1st Annual Cape Fear Striped Bass Invitational went off great. This was a guided, catch and release tournament to raise money for Cape Fear River Watch. There were only 7 boats with two anglers per boat.

Even though temperatures were near 100 degrees this weekend, the fishing was pretty good. The mornings seemed to have the best action as the bite would slow down during the heat of the day.

Went looking for skinny water reds this morning. Ran a little ways north and headed up a creek to some knee deep water and started casting. Was throwing a spinner bait and on about the 4th cast my lure landed near a marsh bank with an oyster bar close by.
