Fishing Report: Well the winter winds are blowing and fortunately we have 10K Islands to hide behind. The Everglades is by far the best winter fishery in the entire US. The wind can be howling 25, and we can still find slick calm waters to fish.

With the winter upon us now, the fish are moving into the protected, warmer waters of the back country. Looking for shallow dark muddy bottoms to lay up to warm themselves. An excellent opportunity to sightfish for snook, red fish , and baby tarpon in clear shallow water.

Snook and redfish are the main target species this time of year, and last year was fantastic, until the freeze of January came and shut us down pretty good. They say it was the coldest winter in the last 30 years.

Fishing returned to normal by March and we were back on track with some pretty impressive catches. Dave Teper landed a 43 inch snook on fly and Dakota Richardson nailed a 33 inch red on fly, while brother Gryffon was jumping baby poons.

To get a better idea of what my game is, and to see what we do here in the winter, look at my website (naplesfloridaflyfishing.com) My friends and I @ worldangling.com have been making fly fishing films for the past 5 years in different locales. Last Nov/Dec we shot this film right here in our own backyard of the Everglades "High in the lowlands"

Enjoy the film and tell everyone you know to check it out.
