Yellow Perch fishing is Excellent

Lake Erie, Ohio - Freshwater Fishing Report
NE Kelley's Island Shaol

Fished last Sunday for Yellow Perch, NE of Kelly's Island Shoal. We were just a few hundred yards from the green can, in 41 f.o.w.

Vertically jig fishing near or on the bottom with spreaders, using plain #4 Tru-Turn hooks, was the ticket for our guests. Emerald shiners were the bait of choice.

We limited with 210 Yellow Perch and they were mostly in the 9-11 inch range, with 4 fish over 12 inches. Nice Perch. They weighed 74 pounds at the Marblehead Fish Cleaning shop. They scale them and butterfly fillet them for a $1.00 per pound there. Trust me it is worth every penny. :)

It is prime time for Yellow Perch, Smallmouth Bass, & Walleye on Lake Erie!
