Fellow Anglers,
Had the Steve Dilk from Clifton, NJ party out today for a day of Fluke fishing with all good intentions. Too bad the fish didn't hear about our intentions. Oh brother, what a crappy slow day! Fished the flats at the Ammo Pier and quickly picked up 5-6 shorts (17"-17.5") and then bagged a nice 3 lb'er for the box. We all thought this was going to be the beginning of a great day...........NOT! Within the first hour of our drift, things shut down in that area and it was search and hunt all over the place.
One thing we noticed was the fish were , once again, cold coming from 35' of water. Although the surface temps were 71 degrees, down below was much colder. All the hits were very soft, signaling to us the the water down below was indeed cold.
So, all in all, we had action, but not nearly enough and not nearly enough keepers for the box. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. I'm sure the full moon phase that we're in had an effect on today's slow fishing too.
Tight Lines
