Fellow Anglers,

Had the Ian Hockmeier and brother Noah out for a morning of Striper fishing, but as the fishing God's would have it, it was a brutal day for me and Stripers. Boy.......searched here, there and just about everywhere but found slim pickings. Got to be truthful here, this was one of my bad days for Stripers. Started off clamming at the S.H. clam beds, but the place was loaded with Bluefish. Move over to Romer, but it was wrong time and outgoing tide, which is what I hate for clamming Stripers. Then made a move over to Flynns Knoll and bingo....2 very pregnant and huge Blackfish, which we set free unharmed. Also caught numerous Fluke (come on Saturday am) at an undisclosed location. Nice size keeper Fluke but wrong day. See you guys tomorrow.

Heard on the VHF that someone nailed a few "cows" at Asbury, but it was too late for me to make the run. Ocean water temps was 11 degrees colder than Sandy Hook Bay. See what happens with a strong south wind! Then decided to try worming at the bridges in the Shrewsbury but to no avail. I was due for this. As they say "What a difference a day makes"

Will be out Saturday 5/23/09 to put a dent in the Fluke population. Will give you a report some time Sunday.

Tight Lines to all.......

Capt. John
