Fellow Anglers,

Well, Reel Fun Charters had a busy 2 days with charters for Fluke on Sunday and Monday and with mixed results after bouncing around to different locations looking for a respectable catch. On Sunday, we had the Tom Tambone party out. After getting a tip about a location in the western Raritan Reach, we ran back there first thing in the morning only to be treated with a few really small shorts.......not what we were looking for. Next we headed to Flynn's Knoll hoping to cash in on one of my favorite and unfished area by most people. Too bad the area was pretty void of quality fish. Mostly shorts and sea robbins. Time to move on. Sometimes it takes a little moving around to get into quality fish for our customers.

Decided to move down the beach, so my mate and I headed for a dredge hole we often fish when the water heats up and and there's a ton of boat traffic around. BINGO.....we're rewarded with a nice steady stream of hits, both keepers and shorts to make our day. We had over 30 throwbacks (fish the netters will get to keep) and 7 nice quality keepers to about 4 lb's. Nice day, not outstanding, but a very nice day's catch.

After talking to a few returning anglers in our marina, who fished various spots, we did quite well. Thanks to the Tom Tambone party for an enjoyable day fishing with us. ( Happy Easter Tom!)

On Monday the 20th, we had the Jack Adams party out for a day of Fluking which started out as an absolutely gorgeous morning with light winds and a lake flat bay and ocean. Bunker were cruising all over the bay in their big and small pods which we stopped and snagged about a dozen of them for strip baits..........ah nothing like bunker strips for great fluke baits.

After a few unsuccessful drifts, I made a call to a friend (Thanks Donnie from Tastee Subs) who was fishing the Ambrose and he was getting some good results, so it was off the Ambrose to give my party a shot at some NJ Ambrose fishing. Boy it's great to have good friends around.........BANG!!!! fish on after a few minutes of our first drift. Although we had our fair share of shorts, we did manage to bag few nice keepers fishing a channel that usually really trucks with current. We took advantage of today's wind against tide situation that slowed our drift to where we could fish 60 feet of water using ONLY 4 oz. of weight........amazing for Ambrose.
