Fellow Anglers,

As I said 2 days ago, "What a difference a day makes". Had the Ian and Noah Hockmeier brothers out again for the opening day of Fluke season yesterday. Started fishing various holes in the Shrewsbury River, but found the fishing to be slow, really slow. Decided to move into Sandy Hook Bay in somewhat shallow water( 12'-25') knowing that because of the cool ocean water temps, the bay was probably our best bet to bag some flatties. Decided to fish "Officers Row" because we had a very stiff east wind and that decision paid off very well as we had a good day drifting various spots at the Officers Row dropoff. Caught 26 nice flatties. Not bad for opening day.

You see this fishing thing, I've discovered, is a law of averages. There isn't anyone who will have day after day of "outstanding" fishing. You hit a home run one day or you may strike out or just get to first base the next. That's just the nature of fishing. Thankfully, I made the right choices yesterday for the brothers and we had a good day fo Fluke fishing as compared to 5/22 when we had a tough time finding a good Striped Bass bite.

All in all, the customer told me that they had a good two days and learned a lot about saltwater fishing. See you guys (Ian and Noah) again later during the summer. Their comments about their fishing experience with Reel Fun Sportfishing was my reward for 2 days of hard work. Thank you guys.

Tight Lines to all.......

Capt. John
