Fellow Anglers,
Striped Bass - Had the John Cuozzo of Boonton, NJ party out for a day of Striper fishing. Boy, talk about dense fog! Good thing I have Furuno Radar, but unfortunately most other boaters don't, and can't see me in pea soup fog conditions like we had yesterday during most of the day. If I was not doing a charter I might have chanced going outside to clam for Stripers, but not wanting to put my customers at risk, I and my mate decided to fish the next best option and that was the Shrewsbury River worming for Stripers. Surprisingly, we did a lot better than I thought as the day started off slow (outgoing tide) and then changed to an all out blitz of schoolie and keeper Stripers as the current changed to incoming (boy do I like incoming tide for Stripers) We had great fun as there were drifts when we had 3 "hookups" of Striped Bass at the same time. What a blast!
To make matters even better, we added 5 nice eating sice Bluefish to the box (Bluefish on sandworms?) as well as the boats' first "legal" Fluke! Of course we couldn't keep the fish, but it's nice to know were to start fishing next Saturday morning!
I have other Striper charters next week and I'll keep you posted. I'm also booked for opening day of Fluke season and I can't wait to get out there next Saturday (5/23/09). I do have other prime dates for both Stripers and Fluke, so if you're interested in de-stressing yourself right now, then lets get together and relax with me and the mates on a great day out on the water.............good for the mind and body!
Tight Lines to all.......
Capt. John
