Please bare with me as this will be more of a human interest stroy than a fishing report. About 2 weeks ago i was contacted by a gentleman to charter my boat. After going over all the details, we then came to picking a date. Kevin explained to me he was in the Army Stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and was coming to NJ to visit family. He also stated that he would have his 4 sons Daniel, Ken, Kyle and Kameron, that he was just reunited with Kyle and Kameron after 2 yrs.
It was now that I felt a lump in my throat, I explained to Keven about Take-A-Vet fishing and that a number of Captains supported it, Kevin was taken back to say the least. We set a date for our adventure.
Today was the big day I was greeted with clouds, fog and drizzle upon my arrival at the boat. My gloom was short lived as i saw 5 big smiles coming down the dock. After introductions and hand shakes we set off on out adventure.
Almost from the beginning heavy rain, thunder and fog prevailed, and the Fluke were not cooperating. We ran across a school of Blues and played with them boating blues from 4-7 lbs.
Even if we did not catch a fish just watching Kevin with his sons, the boys had never been salt water fishing and loved each and every moment of the experience.
The elements finally forced a premature end to our trip. But a trip i will remember for a long time
Bag of Ice $2.00, Pint of Kellies $12.00 the smile on the faces of Father and sons sharing a special moment Priceless.
Keven and the boys are invited back to fish with us at any time, we can only wish the best for this true American Family and that the Lord watches over SFC Kevin Kanach as he continues to serve our great nation
