Allen Rosenfeld of Manhatten, NY and his crew joined us today for an action filled day on the water fishing for fluke. Once again we had to battle strong early morning west winds for a good drift by tucking into the lee of the Earle Pier and surprisingly started to pick away at a few keepers in some really shallow water. Dragging bait using squid/smelt combo, whole squid as well as peanut bunker was very productive catching numerous shorts along with keepers until the wind died down just enough for me to make my next move.

Headed over to the twin sticks area at the tip of the hook and an outgoing tide provided us with good action once again with a mix of shorts and keepers with one of our party, Jim, pulling in a fat 24", 5 lb beauty on an whole squid. All in all, not a bad day, but still a far cry from the fluke fishing we experienced in 2009.
