Port St Joe area still has plenty of fish on the flats. Today we found good redfish and trout on the west side of the bay and large schools of jack in the 30 lbs range on the east flats near butlers. But the canal is the hot spot for trout , redfish and flounder. Jig heads tipped with shrimp are bringing lots of fish to the boat , but live mullet or bull minnows fished on the bottom are the ticket for a fish fry. Live shrimp is catching sheepshead and drum.
Apalachicola area is holding tons of trout and good size fish too , fish close to the mouths of the creeks and bayous with live mullet or a pink and white grub .
Lanark area has some good reds and trout with live and dead baits around docks , but a red and white grub will also bring them to the boat.
Off Shore fishing is strong with a good grouper bite in and around 50 feet. Pinfish for the best bait . Lots of big trigger fish out there right now and they will take squid quick.
Lots of mullet , and full of roe, if a belly needs to be filled you cant go wrong . We have seen tons of large schools from west pass to the cape and all the fish are those big ones. also the canal in gulf county is teaming with jumping and flipping mullet they were everywhere.
Good luck and have a safe trip
