The recipients of the certificates that were drawn at the party finally scheduled to join Seward Adventure Charters for a day of fishing in late July. This day turned out to be one of the better days of the year as the bite was exceptional most of the day. Several large Halibut were caught with the largest being over 150 pounds hooked by Brad Davis of ADI. Brad had quite the battle with this fish due to the size and fight of the fish combined with a serious current running to the west. Brad got an assist from everyone on the boat but the majority of the fight was handled by Brad and Bob Ottum, also of ADI. Once the fish was in the boat the battle of getting back on anchor had just began as we had to play out 600 feet of line and leave our anchor on a float to drift with and fight the fish without the current. Getting the float caught in the current and the line back to the boat was a chore that everyone assisted with. Once the Halibut bite turned off we moved over to one of favorite Ling Cod spots and everyone got into very nice sized Lings. Jennings and Dave, of Providence Radiology and Providence Imaging Center respectively and Bob of ADI landed the biggest Lings of the day with Jennings' weighing in at 52 pounds.
