Early out on the lagoon today, about a half hour before daybreak our first target was the black drum. Searching a flat in Mosquito Lagoon the first hour was not looking very good so I decided to move to redfish territory. On my way out running the trolling motor I noticed some nervous water about 150 yards out. I moved towards it and as I got closer, sure enough there they were, a school of about 100 drum!
As we approached them within litteraly 20 feet from the boat I dropped the Power-Pole and all three of us hooked up......Triple Hook Up!!!
We boated 2 and one spit the hook. Another one was hooked within 5 minutes, this one the largest going wherever he wanted screaming drag off the reel breaking off on the Power-Pole.
We ended the day with these black drum, redfish, trout, and about a 5 pound bluefish.
Book now for the coming months, the reds are really going to start to school up in BIG numbers.
