Cape Fear River, North Carolina - Saltwater Fishing Report
Samll creek off Cape Fear River
Michael Dennis

On 06/25/2009 I was fishing a small creek close to Bald Head Island, using light spinning tackle, with live menhaden on carolina rigs for bait.

Just before the tide was high the bite started, with a slot size red drum striking the bait hard, nearly stripping the spheros spinning reel before the red fish was turned, landed the red drum, and moved further down the bank.

As soon as the boat, tightened up on anchor,I casted the bait out for one of the anglers,it had just settled down in the water when another hungry red drum hit, this was turned out to be a great afternoon of red fishing on the Cape Fear.

Tackle Used: Light spinning tackle
Method Used: Live Bait - Carolina Rig

Water Temperature: 78 degrees
