Two boats fishing for cats in close proximity to each other. Bite was strong from 6:30 AM to midmorning. Little or no wind, clouds in and out until 11:00 AM. Plenty of 3 to 5 pound blue cats and channels caught, with one nice flathead (17.5 pounds) caught by a five (5) year old boy. This made quite an impression on the young lad. Bait of choice for both boats was white perch and crappie filets. Suffient amount of bait in the area and white perch were fairly easy to catch on jigging spoons (white was the best color). Most fish were released as we only keep what we need for food and we release all cats over 10 pounds for breeding purposes. If you don't release the big ones, then you can't have trophy fish.
