Happy New Year!!
The weather and the fishing for the end of year has been epic! Water temperatures in the high 70s. light wind and cloud cover has made for some excellent baby tarpon fishing. This is not typical weather for this time of year, but what a way to spend New Year Day then putting tarpon in the air.

Marc Blackburn (1/11/2007)
The winter cold fronts have been moving in regularly and water temperatures have cooled slightly causing the bite to pick up for sailfish, snapper, grouper, tuna and mackerel. Our winter fishing is in full swing with a lot of options depending on weather and sea conditions.

Scott Yetter (12/31/2006)
Happy New Year from the Florida Keys! Hard to believe another year is coming to a close. The fishing has been hit or miss this month. We have had some "Chamber of Commerce" postcard perfect days. Intermixed with some cold front days that were better suited to tying flies and doing laundry.
Snapper fishing very good at the reef. by
Marc Blackburn (12/27/2006)
Reef fishing action has been very good in the Upper Keys. We have been fishing the reef over the last week and the snapper bite has been very good. The water has been cloudy due to the breezy weather and the yellowtail snapper have been unable to see the hook and leader as well as usual.

Marc Blackburn (12/16/2006)
Winter has arrived in South Florida and so have the winter species. Sailfish, tuna, wahoo, kingfish, snapper and grouper are all biting very well now and will continue through the winter months. The Islamorada Sailfish Tournament started today and over 140 sailfish had already been caught by the 40 boats entered on the first day.
Sailfish and Kingfish In The Upper Keys by
Izzy Donatiello (12/05/2006)
Last week we tried for a sailfish, but couldn't raise any. We did catch Kingfish and a lot of sharks. Had a whale shark come up to the boat; we caught some cobia off it. The water is still a little warm; What sailfish action there was. happened from Davis to Conch reef.
In Search of Spanish Mackerel by
Izzy Donatiello (10/20/2006)
I took a party out into the gulf looking for some Spanish mackerel last week. We found some fish but not the numbers I was looking for. We did catch a number of blacktip sharks. Fishing will only get better. I made a tarpon trip one morning. I was using dead baits. We had two tarpon on, but lost them when they warped around a bridge.

Whether you challenge your skills on fly or live bait or light tackle, it is great fun to be out in the sun, and releasing some really big fish from all the different species.
