This past week on our Friday Night Swordfish trip was again an awesome night. It was 1/12/07 and we left the dock at 6PM. It was really choppy that night and it took us a little extra time to get out there since we had to battle the seas a bit. The boat is huge so it wasn't uncomfortable or anything. Anyway, we set up on our first drift. Right after we finished putting our last bait out, we got our first bite. We were fighting him for a few minutes when we got a second fish on at the same time. Those fish somehow swam together and one of them got cut off. Then another one bit while we were still fighting the first one. And then another. We had 4 fish on within a 20 minute period, and 3 on at the same time. You can imagine, it was crazy with that many fish on.

We boated 2 out of that batch of 4 fish, a 50" forklength and a 55". The bigger one was about 100 pounds. After that we set up on another drift and got 1 more fish before the night was over, another 50" fork swordfish. Final tally was 3 out of 5 swordfish and a couple other bites we never got the hooks into. They were chewing that night. I think we may just retire from our daytime trips soon and do ALL swordfishing trips. Just kidding, day fishng has been good too. Sailfish are still biting pretty good for us and some 25-30lb. dolphin have been showing up in shallow for us on the day trips. Until next week, cya on the water...
