Redfish on Mosquito Lagoon continue to chew lasting throughout the day with the changing of the season upon us. And the fish can tell.

Yesterday's trip was in the northern end of the lagoon, boating 16 reds fishing 2 different spots. Some days you may have to move around a bit to find out where they are "laid up", but not this day. Most fish were upper slot (25 - 27 inches) with 2 going well over the 10 pound range. Mixed in were trout, jacks, and a few catfish to get the rod bent. Fishing will remain hot with mullet everywhere. Target drop offs of flats with baitfish present, which is not hard to find, and the fish should be there. Chunk mullet, cut ladyfish, and live shrimp have been all good live baits. Soft plastics worked slowly around the mullet along with topwaters are the way to go with artificial.
