Today's trip was with an avid fly fisherman Dave Cook and his outstanding fisherman wife, Suzanne. Our first 2 spots produced several rat reds along with one slot fish and a couple trout in the mix. This was definantly not good enough. Dave did want to swing the fly a few times, so I wanted to at least give him some shots at reds. Our third spot was the connection!

With the water levels up just a bit in the past 2 days, I hit an area that was holding good size schools of fish a couple weeks ago when the water was up. Sure enough as I approached this large sand hole less than five minutes from the boat ramp I could see reds rolling all throughout the hole. We tossed live shrimp around 10 yards out in front of the boat with the southwest winds to our back and boated around 20 reds within 2 1/2 hours. Most were nice slot fish with a few "lunkers" in on the action. (Nice 22 spotter Suzanne!!)

Before we were on our way out, Dave wanted his shot with the shrimp pattern (Gotcha) fly. I pulled the Power - Pole and slowly drifted up to where I could see flashes of bronze in the crystal clear water. After 3 or 4 shots at the rolling fish I could see Dave lay the fly perfectly in a group of 40 or so fish. With 2 strips of the line....HOOKED UP!! Nice 25 inch red on fly to end our 4 hour trip.

Good job Dave and Suzanne....your always great company on the boat!
