Redfishing will be as hot as it gets in the coming months with low water and crystal clear conditions. The fish are schooling very well in sand sloughs throughout the northern back country of Mosquito Lagoon.

If you are new to the area or on a vacation trip to this beautiful refuge, be VERY careful running the shallows this time of year. Some areas you will have litteraly a 10 yard wide, 1 foot deep section to make your move to reach a certain "hot" spot......otherwise plan on wading to get your boat off a sand bar, or worse yet an oyster bar.

I STRONGLY urge new comers to hire a guide for a trip or two to understand the Mosquito Lagoon.

Trout fishing remains hot also with "Gators" laying mostly in grass beds. Watch for big sandy areas with tall grass beneath the surface in 1-3 feet of water. Target the grass.
