Lower Madison is heating up by Brian McGeehan (9/19/2011)
[Madison River,MT] The lower Madison is heating up as water temperatures cool. The river in this section is normally too warm for good fishing from July to August, but really turns on in the fall. Fishing big streamers or crayfish patterns brings in the big fish, but blue winged olive hatches on cloudy days can produce good dry fly fishing.

Yellowstone River Winter Fishing by JB Klyap (1/30/2010)
[Yellowstone River,MT] The icebergs offer good vantage points-slippery casting platforms. The river is lower than normal, easily waded. When there's normally 1 fish per square foot...what happens when the river comes down 10 times the norm...you do the math, I am tying on a bug and casting first!

[Southwest Montana,MT] I was in Twin Bridges, MT last week hosting a group of fly anglers at Crane Meadow Lodge (www.cranemeadow.com) on what was our 7th trip there. The timing was just right this year with the weather being perfect, frost on the ground or mid 30's in the morning, warming to the mid 70's with almost no humidity. Unlike several other years when water flow was an issue, we had plenty of water this year due to a good snow pack last winter and spring.

Bighorn River Hopper Time by Eric Anderson (7/20/2006)
[Bighorn River,MT] The biggest fish are beign caught in some of the skinniest water imaginable. The fish are holding tight to the banks and when you throw the right hopper it is hard for them to say no. Along with the great hopper fishing the nymphing has remained very consistient and has produced very well.
Good Fishing For Rainbows In Montana by Jeremy Giberston (7/03/2006)
[Yellowstone River,MT] Water temps getting in mid to upper 40's, and the Rainbow spawn is basically over, so it's a good time to be fishing. I'm always looking forward to when the fish begin to move into their summer water, then it seems you can catch them all over the river (even more), and the small, shallow riffles begin to hold more fish.
