Steady north east winds have kept alot of people off the water this week which has been a bad move. Mosquito Lagoon has had a pretty rough chop to it so fishing the back waters has proved to work very well. Just like clock work the early fall mullet run is kicking in with all kinds of predator fish following the schools. Redfish can be seen all along the east bank cruising the shallow water crashing bait fish mostly singled up.

Starting early is the ticket with most topwaters that walk the dog the first hour of daylight getting smashed by reds and trout fished where the water drops off quickly from one foot down to four feet. Cover as much area as possible making long casts using a noisy plug such as a skitterwalk working it fast then pausing for a couple seconds. If a trout is any where near it, as soon as you start your retrieve again chances are he'll knock your lure clear out of the water! There have been some big one's this week with reports of a 33 inch 9 pounder pulled in by Jim Morgans 9 year old niece. Her biggest trout!

Tarpon have been rolling gulping air and feeding on glass minnows in the Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach area. Pitch a live pinfish when you see one out in front of his head and hold on!! Most have been going 40 - 60 pounds with an occasional 100 pounder in the mix. Bait Busters will be one of your best artificials to try to catch one of these silver kings. These fish are pretty smart but can be caught with the right presentation.

Fishing the fall mullet run is one of the best times of the year so come on down and book a trip of a lifetime!
